Jaden and Sophie spend a day with Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Biologist Barron Moody, to learn about Lake Okeechobee’s 6,000-year-old history. Nicole, Natalie and Jaden join Lee County Educator, Miss Susie Hassett at Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve, north of where the Caloosahatchess River flows into the Gulf of Mexico. They learn how fresh water releases from Lake Okeechobee can affect the marine life in the estuary and meet some curious creatures living in the shallow waters.
**Please note: The regulations changed after filming. The current fishing regulations on Lake Okeechobee are a 5 fish bag limit with only one bass measuring 16 inches or longer and a minimum length limit of 12 inches for all black bass species except largemouth bass. There is no minimum length limit for largemouth bass.”
